Scope
Canadian Beverage Search is operated as a personal, non-commercial project by an individual. This policy explains what data the site handles and why.
What we collect
- Anonymous client ID. A random UUID is generated in your browser the first time you visit and stored in
localStorageunder the keycbs_client_id. It is sent with each search so the same device's recent searches can be shown back to you. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other identifier. - Search inputs. Your search query, the province you selected, and any optional city or category filters. These are stored with the search job so results can be cached and replayed.
- Optional approximate geolocation. Only if you explicitly tick "Use my location", your browser's approximate latitude and longitude are sent with the search to sort results by distance. They are stored on the search job row and not used for any other purpose.
- Hosting analytics. The hosting platform (Lovable) collects standard anonymous traffic metrics such as page views and referrer.
What we don't collect
- No name, email address, phone number, or account information.
- No payment information.
- No third-party advertising trackers or ad-network pixels.
- No cross-site tracking cookies.
Cookies & local storage
The site does not set any tracking cookies. It uses two functional localStorage entries:
cbs_client_id— the anonymous device identifier described above.- An admin key entry, used only on the
/adminpage, to keep an operator signed in to the dashboard.
How data is used
Collected data is used to run live searches against retailer sites, deduplicate results, cache identical searches for roughly 15 minutes to reduce load on upstream retailers, and show your recent searches back to you on this device.
Retention
Search jobs and their results are persisted in the database. The short-lived result cache rotates automatically as entries expire. You can clear your browser's site storage at any time to disassociate this device from past searches.
Sharing
Data is not sold and is not shared with advertisers. As a normal part of fulfilling a search, queries are sent to the relevant retailer websites and to Firecrawl, the third-party fetching provider used to retrieve public retailer pages.
Your rights
Because the site does not collect personal identifiers, there is no account to delete. You can clear your browser's site storage at any time to stop being identifiable to the app.
Children
The site is not directed at minors. Content related to alcoholic beverages is not intended for users under the legal drinking age in their province or territory.

This policy may be updated from time to time. Check the "Last updated" date above for the current version.
